Gaa-Barge

There are two gaa-barge pieces today.  The technique and pattern are the same for both little quilts.  Very small scraps are scattered on white fabric.  It is covered with tulle and scribbled on with free motion quilting. Then the piece is cut into a square and placed in the center of a square within a square block.  Borders are placed around the square and then free motion quilted.  Both quilts are about 11″ x 11″.square in a square gaa barge #1square in a square gaa barge #2

Another Baby Quilt

This quilt was pieced many years ago and intended for my first granddaughter when she had her first baby.  It sat in the UFO pile for years.  Now, after all these years, the baby is on the way.

IMG_2239I saw this quilt when Billie Lauder, the quilt designer,  was on Alex Anderson’s Simply Quilts television show.  I had taped the show, so I paused it and drew the design.  The quilt is called “Help, There’s a dog on my quilt”.

IMG_2241It’s amazing how a simple nine patch can be so interesting when changing a few of the pieces.  The nine patches are made with hand dyed fabric.  The quilt is machine quilted with a walking foot.

IMG_2240The dog came alive when quilting was added.

I hope that you enjoy this baby quilt as much as I do.

Miss Rosie Series

This is the second installment of the Miss Rosie Series.  My daughter and I made all thirteen quilts from the Miss Rosie Spice of Life book By Carrie Nelson.

miss rosie double dutyThe second quilt in the book  is called Double Duty. At first glance, this quilt looks complex, but it isn’t.  It consists of flying geese and log cabin blocks.  The blocks are set on the diagonal. Carrie used fall colors for her quilt.

It is interesting to see how different colors make the quilt look different.

Have a great day and happy quilting.
