It has been a cold, rainy day in Maine. It was a good day to sew blocks and clean the sewing machine. Also a good day for organizing my sewing supplies which were all over the place. The temperature quilt is up to date. I did forget to bring the black sashing fabric to Maine, but, when the June strip is finished, I can add that strip to the quilt on my next trip to N. H. Every time I travel between states, I forget to bring something. I forgot my cutting mat, but a friend loaned me her mat and I did a lot of cutting and sewing today. I did order a very nice new mat that I will leave in Maine until October. It should be here soon.
Today, I made two blocks from Kimberly Einmo’s book Precut Bonanza. I’m working on the 10″ size and have just a few more to sew. Kimberly was at the Vermont Quilt Festival and I showed her the Garden Quilt that was made from the first twelve 10″ blocks in her book. She enjoyed seeing a quilt that was designed using her blocks. There will be 10 blocks in the second quilt made with 10″ blocks. The blocks are easy to sew and work up quickly. The first block has a good size center. It is a great place for some fancy quilting. The biggest decision is to decide which of the Japanese fabrics to use in the blocks.
Have a great day and happy quilting.
