I had a plan. I would work on a different project each day for four days. Then, I would choose one of the projects for the remaining three days in the week. Eventually, I would finish them all and when one was finished, add another ufo or new quilt to the mix. It sounded like a good plan. I jokingly told a friend that I would probably keep to the plan for a week. That didn’t happen.
The first day, I quilted on the “Big Quilt.” It was so much fun. The second day, I continued to quilt on that quilt and the third day came around and I was on a roll. The plan didn’t even last a day.
The quilt is called “The Big Quilt” because it is an enlarged version of a table mat. It’s a Mile A Minute quilt.

I had said that I would never teach the Mile A Minute quilt block again, so I gave away most of my samples. Another plan not followed through. I am teaching the class one more time. Maybe.
I’m making new samples. The first one is a baby quilt. I wanted to show a Mile A Minute with a planned center. I had a sample with funky birds and used it in the first row.

This is my favorite bird. It’s not quilted yet but might be before the class.

I made eight squares to show how a different color sashing and border would look.

I will set each one into a different block. Ohio Star, Monkey Wrench, etc. Each setting will be in a different color and end up in a placemat. I’ll have eight new placemats to use when the class is finished.
One of the quilts that I gave away was one of my favorite quilts. I’m making another one like it. The center has four Mile A Minute blocks. It is set on a diagonal. Some of the borders are also Mile A Minute. The colors that look gray are actually green. This will be a tablecloth for my dining room. It may be a little different from the original. I’ll add borders until it fits the table.

In the meantime, I am up to date on the temperature quilt.
Have a great day and happy quilting.
